Pink Gradient

This was one of my first experiments with creating a gradient look. I was pretty happy with the results. The technique I used was to paint stripes of the colors on a makeup sponge and then gently dabbing it on my fingers. Make sure to tap it once or twice on a piece of paper first.

The colors used here are Sally Hansen Smooth & Perfect in Satin and Pure Ice Rumors. I used Insta-Dri Whirlwind White for the stamp.

I love how the sponge technique allows for such smooth blending of the colors. I have done this a few other times but this is still my favorite. I need to try it with a lot more colors still. What's your favorite method of creating a gradient? I would love to see your comments below!

Duochrome and Holograph Triangles

So, that last post reminded me of another manicure that I loved. This one involves a dupe of Beetle, Orly Space Cadet. I love how the various finishes are so different from each other but somehow work well together. Here I started with a base of Sinful Colors Vacation Time, then I taped off triangles of Milani Digital and Orly Space Cadet.

NailaDay: Holo and Duochrome Triangles

Hello Everyone!

After being addicted to all things nail polish for the last year or so, and learning to take care of my nails and paint the perfect manicure, I finally decided that I wanted to take things one step further and share my addiction with the rest of the world. I've had multiple people, including strangers, tell me now that I should start a blog and I figured, why not? I have a huge backlog of manis that I can show to start with and I think it's a great way to add another dimension to an already favorite hobby. You might find some non nail polish stuff sneaking in here once in a while since I have other hobbies too but I'll try to keep it mostly polish related :-)

To start with, I'm going to bring an old favorite out of the vault. Hard Candy Beetle. This is a very easy to find, shimmery duochrome. Any Walmart should carry it.
