Revlon Perplex with CG Glitter All The Way

Hello everyone! I'm back again with another mani I did sometime in January. I'm slowly catching up with manis I did but did have any energy to post about. It does have less than perfect attention to the finishing touches but I still love it! I just needs another layer of topcoat.

For this mani I used Revlon Perplex, now renamed under Revlon Naughty. The glitter gradient from cuticle is done with China Glaze Glitter All the Way. I love this glitter. It's becoming one of my favorite multi-colored glitters. It just has the right blend of colors for me.

I think you guys would agree that another layer of topcoat and this mani wouldn't be half bad! This was the first time used Perplex and I love the taupe-y with a hint of purple that it is. I think it went well with my skin and I'll have to try different looks with it. Application was nice. I believe this was two coats.

Hare Why So Igneous?

Hey there, everybody! Hope everyone had a good week. I sure did....I'm done with my first trimester! That's right, I'm knocked up! All the large gaps in between posts, the complaints of nausea and fatigue, all cause of the first trimester misery. I had my ultrasound done this week and it was so much fun to see the baby bouncing and turning waving it's arms. So cute!!!

Ok, on to the polish. The next few posts are going to show some of the manis I did in the depths of my fatigue and nausea/vomiting. I'm surprised any of them turned out anywhere good enough to post. Giving myself a manicure was way more than I could handle most of the time and a lot of times I either walked around with chipped polish (gasp) or no polish. I must have slept half the day and the other half I was like a zombie. I'm not sure how I did full days of work this whole time.

Anyway, back to the polish again. This is Hare Why So Igneous? I got a bunch of Hare polishes right before Christmas and then didn't really get around to wearing any of them. They all look so pretty in their bottles! These are probably my first indie polishes aside from Cover Band Sticks and Stones from way back when.

I just love the way this polish looks now, when I see it in pictures. I had surprisingly better clean up than I remembered doing. I'm going to have to wear it again sometime, now that I can actually appreciate polish without throwing up. (It was a weird trigger. Maybe the smell?)

I wore it over Orly After Party, which in my opinion is a very underwhelming polish. Good for a black base, that's about it. I was not really impressed. Why So Igneous? on the other hand, a big fan.

CQ Deep Blue Sea Illusion Stripes

Hi Everyone!!  Happy Valentine's Day! I feel so much better today! I got over a nasty cold and overall, I think things are looking up. I have some big personal news coming up in a little while that I can't reveal yet but I'll entertain guesses!

In the meantime, I have a very un-Valentine mani for you. Not because I don't like the holiday or anything. My husband and I are just not making a very big deal of it this year. Which is fine with me because I am ready to go to sleep and we haven't even eaten dinner yet. Dinner that my husband made, though, so I guess that was rather sweet of him :-)

I think I saw something similar on Pinterest with different colors and I had always wanted to try the look myself. It's all done freehand with nothing more than the brush from the polish bottle itself. I started with the darkest color and then just painted the lighter colors in narrower and narrower bands ending with the lightest color, the white.

The colors I used are shown below. The darkest blue is CQ Deep Blue Sea. I love blues like this. So simple but with so much depth. The next two are Love & Beauty Blue and Aqua. The white is from Sinful Colors.

I love the look of the stripes because it gives such an illusion of reflecting a bright light from further away.

Verity Brilliant Violet Stained Glass mani

Hi everyone. Here is another yet another mani I did just before the holidays. I'm sure I'll start posting some current ones soon but I still have a back log. Hmm..I wonder why.

NailaDay: Verity Brilliant Violet Stained Glass Mani

This mani was done with what is now one of my favorite fushcias, Verity Brilliant Violet. I bought this the same time I bought Verity Deep Violet and I love them both!

For the "stained glass" look on the accent nail, I used a thin nail art brush, painted the black lines on a white base, then painted each individual color with a nail art brush and went over the black lines one last time. For my first effort, I really loved how it came out. The camera shows a lot of imperfections but it looked pretty cool in real life. It was really time consuming but I want to try it again.
