Green on green dots with Urban Outfitter Smush

Oh man, did life get suddenly busy as I'm looking for daycare for my older son! Who knew the waitlists could run so long at some of these places? Kicking myself for not starting earlier but then again, not sure how I could have started earlier with how busy I was. I hope, I hope, I hope we get a good daycare for him!

Anyway, on to the polish!! This is an old old manicure that I'm just getting around to posting now. This is Urban Outfitter Smush. I decorated it with some dots with a few other green polishes. You can see all the polishes I used below. The Sinful Color polish is San Francisco, an awesome shimmery dark green.

Even though I wore this a while ago, I remember that Smush was not super easy to work with. Might have been my skill with application or how I tired I was but I remember being very unhappy with how much dragging and streaking I was getting. I'm going to have to try it again sometime to see if that issue is still there. Another thing I remember is how awkward it was for me to hold the bottle and take pictures. It's a fat cube! That being said, the shape is kind of cool and unique.

Again, thanks for looking! Until next time!

InstaFranken Friday: "Sparkle Merlot" holo glitter franken

Hi all! Time to show another one of my frankens. I should not be given a job naming polishes. It's really gorgeous though!! I recommend clicking on the pictures to really see the awesomeness.

Here are the polishes I used for this.
Pure Ice Iced Merlot
Sally Hansen Strobe Light
L.A. Girls 3D Sparkle Ruby
Love and Beauty Faded Rose/Multi
Spectraflair Franken but this didnt do much

I made it in the same fashion as the others. Single use batch in a little foil cup. I'm going to show you more pictures in different lights. The one above was in sunlight. The next one is in shade.

And in the lightbox...

Then inspired by Lisa from Polished Elegance by this post, I added a cut out stamped design with hand placed glitter borders. Design is from the Pueen plate 19. For that red base, I used a mix of WnW Everybody Loves Redmond and Urban Outfitters Blood.

Seven Deadly Sins Mani: Day 11 - Envy (aka. My first quilted nails, with Urban Outfitters Smush)

Hello everyone!

Time for another Deadly Sins Challenge mani. The prompt for this one is Envy. "Who would you like to be? Let us know recreating another challenger's work." When I first saw this manicure by Nail Wish, one of the creators of this challenge, I knew I had to do it for this week. It's a technique that I had been wanting to do ever since I saw the first one on Instagram but it was her mani and this challenge that clinched it for me.

The color I used is Urban Outfitters Smush. I obviously didn't recreate her mani exactly...(her's is better). I didn't want yet another purple mani but I wanted something in the pastels so I chose this. I also didn't have the little tiny pearls so I used Revlon Metallic for the intersections of the lines. This is three coats of Smush, followed by a coat of Sinful Colors Over the Top topcoat, then Hard Candy matte topcoat. I waited for it to mostly dry then I used the edge of my scraper to create the lines. The angle is all wrong on the ring finger. I'll just pretend it's an accent :-)

I really did like the end result, even though I need practice and it could be more refined. Maybe a less matte matte topcoat next time.... What do you guys think?

Oh, also, there is this thing I do with my husband for every manicure I do. I ask him to rate it on a scale of 1-10 based on his opinions and preferences. His answer usually surprises and amuses me. For instance, hubby rated this initially a 9/10 for uniqueness. Then when he found out that I wasn't going to be putting a glossy topcoat over it, it became a 2/10 because "it's not finished until you put the shiny stuff on top. I can't give a good rating to something you don't finish." :-D
