Third day transformation with Glam Polish You're Our Only Hope, Frank!

Hello everyone!!

For today's post, you guys are going to have to forgive my day three tip wear. I was too excited about this polish to really worry about all that. I will have to wear it by itself another time. So, I had been walking around feeling blah about my Femme Fatale The Secret of Secrets when this beauty arrived in the mail. I thought the color was spot on to layer over so I tried it....and loved it!

This polish is so complex I'm not sure what all is actually in there but I do detect small color shifting flakies, some color shifting iridescent glitter, the same one that is throughout this Magical Creatures collection, and holographic microglitter. It was so sparkly, I loved it!

Someday, I will wear this all by itself but I have a feeling this one looks spectacular over a variety of colors.

Femme Fatale The Secret of Secrets...but not really

Hi folks!

I debated for some time whether or not I should show you guys this next mani. I have a minor obsession with Femme Fatale Polishes and I've worn few of them in the past and loved them. I have not shown them to you on this blog and that needs to be corrected...but moving on. This might be the first one that I'm not totally in love with. It could be user error so I'm suspending final judgement but I really couldn't wait to cover this one up. You'll see with what in my next post :-)

This is one coat of Femme Fatale The Secret of Secrets over a shimmery nude. I don't have the name of that one because it's really old but that's really not important. What's important is that it was a nude, pretty much the same color as my skin. My mannequin hands polish, if you will. Not a look I'm a fan of. So perhaps, if I'd worn The Secret of Secrets alone or over any other color of polish, I would not find it so disappointing. Ah well, back to the drawing board.

Barry M Nude and Barry M Rose Quartz Glitter

Hi all! I'm back with another couple of Barry M polishes today. I used them together in this manicure. This is Barry M Nude with Barry M Rose Quartz Glitter. The first three pictures are taken in my lightbox. I did this manicure as a glitter sandwich. First, two coats of Barry M Nude, then a coat of Rose Quartz Glitter in a gentle gradient with more of the glitter concentrated at the tips. Then another coat of Nude and another coat of the glitter, again in a gentle gradient. 

The Rose Quartz Glitter is made up of rose gold hex glitters mixed with tiny holographic glitters. It's really very pretty in real life.

I did like this manicure quite a bit. I received a lot of compliments with this one for the few days I wore it. I think I hadn't been in the mood for a nude mani at the time so I didn't love it like I have certain others.

I took these last two pictures in my bathroom. The lighting there always seems to give such a different look to some of my polishes. Real, but different. I quite liked the way it looked so I thought I'd include them here too.

Couple of Barielle polish swatches - Putt-e On Me and Buddha-ful

Alright, about a month ago, I told you guys I'd show you Barielle Putt-e On Me by itself. I had used it as a base for ILNP Supernova as seen in this post and it worked great. I really love the color by itself too. It's a really flattering shade of taupe-y brown that works great for my skin tone. Two coats gave me excellent coverage. 

The second swatch for this post is Barielle Buddha-ful. I remember this being all the rage a while back. It was one of the first "flakie" polishes. Now we're knee deep in flakies but I keep this one for sentimental reasons. The base is a very soft sheer pink. Think any one of a number of Essie polishes that look like this. The flakies are color shifting flakies that shift from a pale gold maybe? to a bright green. Most of the time the shifting happens when the light hits it from an angle. Seen head on the flakies almost seem to disappear. I have pretty prominent visible nail lines but I was kind of frustrated that even at three coats I really couldn't hide them that well from the camera. They were not quite that prominent in real life.

Stash Swatch - a few Barielle polishes

Hi everybody.

The month of August pushed me around and knocked me down a bit. It started off great with my son celebrating his 2nd birthday (already?) in the first week of the month. But then....it's like he knew he had turned two and the tantrums just took off! He'd had his moments before but they've really intensified to the point where they've brought me to tears a couple of times. Then, there's all the getting sick. It's been one thing after another for all the members of the family recently. Needless to say, I've been not quite able to keep up with the blog as much as I would have liked. 

This post has been sitting in draft mode for a long time and I can't stand to have it lingering any more. Nothing exciting, just a couple of swatches of polishes I've already shown you in manicures before. The first is Barielle Snow Day. I've shown this to you before with a layer of holographic sparkles over the top. 

The second polish is Barielle Belly Dance. I showed this to you previously here with an accent of Barry M Rose Quartz Glitter. It's a really really nice pinky nude polish and I love it.

Barielle Belly Dance

       I have a very simple manicure for you today. As you may have noticed if you follow my blog for any length of time, I very rarely do nudes. It's not that I don't like them. I just don't gravitate towards them when trying to decide what to wear each time.  I usually save my nude shades for when I need an understated look, such as for interviews, etc. So, when I began swatching my Barielle polishes, this shade really took me by surprise. Since I haven't needed to wear a nude in a while, it really surprised me how simple yet elegant my hands looked when I wore this. This is Barielle Belly Dance. 

The formula was good. It only took me a couple of coats for goot coverage and it was very easy to clean up. The accent nail was done with Barry M Rose Quartz glitter. I'll be showing you that one again with a different manicure in a later post.
