Barry M Nude and Barry M Rose Quartz Glitter

Hi all! I'm back with another couple of Barry M polishes today. I used them together in this manicure. This is Barry M Nude with Barry M Rose Quartz Glitter. The first three pictures are taken in my lightbox. I did this manicure as a glitter sandwich. First, two coats of Barry M Nude, then a coat of Rose Quartz Glitter in a gentle gradient with more of the glitter concentrated at the tips. Then another coat of Nude and another coat of the glitter, again in a gentle gradient.

The Rose Quartz Glitter is made up of rose gold hex glitters mixed with tiny holographic glitters. It's really very pretty in real life.

I did like this manicure quite a bit. I received a lot of compliments with this one for the few days I wore it. I think I hadn't been in the mood for a nude mani at the time so I didn't love it like I have certain others.

I took these last two pictures in my bathroom. The lighting there always seems to give such a different look to some of my polishes. Real, but different. I quite liked the way it looked so I thought I'd include them here too.

And that's it. Again, thanks for looking!!

Barry M Coral with Yellow Topaz Glitter

Holiday weekend is over and we're back to the same old, same old. We're back to swatch posts from the vault again. This is a two in one, Barry M Coral topped with Barry M Yellow Topaz Glitter. I love the coral but I LOVE the glitter. It's so lovely in real life. Great mix of sizes, some are holographic, spreads evenly with good coverage but doesn't overpower the base. I love it. I don't know why I haven't used it more. Oh, wait, I know. I have enough polish to last me two lifetimes. Oh yeah.

Here's Coral by itself. This is three coats for full coverage. It's really less orange than it appears here but I can never take pictures of coral without it looking too orange.

My Fourth of July themed manicure using magnetic polishes

Happy 4th of July everyone!! I had most of the weekend off and just had to work a little bit today. It's been an amazing, relaxing weekend with awesome weather and a lot of hanging out with family thrown in. I'm really sorry to see the end of it!!

Even though I'm behind in showing you guys my regular manis, I have to try to show you my holiday manicures relatively on time. I have been really into magnetic manis lately, not that you could tell since I haven't shown you most of them yet. Since I've been so into them lately. I decided to do a magnetic polish July 4th mani.

NailaDay: July 4th 2016 Magnetic Manicure

For this look, I dry brushed a magnetic polish over the same color metallic polish, added a thick coat of Seche Vite and then used a neodymium magnet over it.

The polishes I used for this are Sinful Colors Snow Me White (white base), Orly Torrid (red base), Wet n Wild Pop up Blue-tique (blue base), Finger Paints Colorful Collage (holo hex glitter), Wet n Wild Don't Break the Circuit (blue magnetic) and a non name magnetic red from Rite Aid bought some years ago.

I forgot what an amazing red Orly Torrid is until I used it again for this mani. I had used it last for an anniversary mani some years ago. It looked amazing mattified at that time. I'm also very glad I didn't write off Don't Break the Circuit either after my last experience with it. So glad neodymium magnets started getting used with magnetic nail polishes! I love it much more than the magnets with designs right now.

That's all for now! See you next time!

Barry M Shocking Pink

I haven't decided on my July 4th mani yet, or even if I'm going to have one, so here is another swatch from the vault. It's a good one, Barry M Shocking Pink. I've already used it a few times in manis so I must really love this pink. This is an easy two coater. I picked this up during my very productive trip to London a few years ago.

There will be manis featuring this polish in the next several posts.

I took advantage of the gorgeous weather today to do a little workout outside and watch my son at the same time. It was perfect. Not too warm, not too windy. Just took my yoga mat, weights and my laptop outside and did a half hour of total cardio fix. Wish I lived somewhere where this was an option everyday!

Anyway, hope everyone has a fun July 4th and thanks for looking!!

Barry M Indigo with Finger Paints Daubigny's Garden

So, since my last post, things have pretty much gone back to normal at Casa NailaDay after the vacation. I'm looking at the vacation photos and dreaming of the next one already.

For today's post, I'm back to digging in the vault to show you an old one, since I will forever be playing catch up it seems. I wore this over a year ago, all the way back in probably Jan 2015. I had been wearing Barry M Indigo, a polish I loved so madly when I saw it at the store that I instantly bought a backup, when I went to Sally's just to look around. I saw Finger Paints Daubigny's Garden sitting on the shelf looking all sparkly and mysterious, and I knew they were a perfect match. I brought it home and did this mani. This is one coat of Daubigny's Garden dabbed over three coats of Barry M Indigo.

In the bottle and over dark colors, the glitters in FP Daubigny's Garden have a green/gold duochrome shift. In the bottle there are some purple flashes as well but I didn't see it over the base of Barry M Indigo, I guess because it's also purplish. I will have to try it over lighter colors to see what other colors this chameleon glitter polish changes to. A quick internet search shows that the purple shade is more prominent over lighter colors.

Here's a low light picture to really capture the duochromy shiftiness of the glitters in Daubigny's Garden.

Here is my swach of Barry M Indigo, three coats. It was slightly harder to use than I had anticipated. The color is dark but the formula still required three coats for even coverage. I was hoping it would therefore have a more jelly like look but it doesn't so much in person. The brand new fresh coat of Seche Vite makes it looks wet in this picture but I got shrinkage soon after. I'll have to try it will Gelibility to see if that will solve some of these issues because I really do love the color. It's a blurple color but my camera kept wanting to take the purple out of it so I color corrected it by warming up the tone a bit. Now the color is accurate but my hands look jaundiced.

That's all folks. Again, thanks for looking!! Until next time!
