There are so many amazing foil-y metallic colors out there that one day I wondered if there was something in black that would be similar. To that end, I wondered what would happen if I layered black jelly over a very sparkly silver. Here's what happened...
For this mani, I chose Sally Hansen CSM Starry, Starry Flight for my silver. It has fine milled silver glitter that is extrememly sparkly in real life. I was wearing two coats in the first picture without any topcoat. I would imagine it would be even more sparkly with a top coat. For the black jelly, I made it using clear and Essie Licorice.
For what I wanted to acheive, I'm not sure I did it. What I had in my head did not look like this. I still think it's pretty though. I've included a couple of phone pictures that I took at work to show what it looks like in sunlight and under a focused indoor light. I think I like the last picture best.
I like what you did by adding black jelly over the glitter. That last picture of it is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Rhonda! Our really did come to life under certain lights.
DeleteThis is gorgeous. I don't have many Sally Hansen polishes. You make me reconsider.
ReplyDeleteI love Sally Hansen. Easy availability for me and they do have some nice colors.
DeleteThis was such a clever idea! I'd never have thought of that. Even if it's not exactly as you envisaged, it still looks rally cool.
ReplyDeleteThank you :-) I think this would be amazing to do with different colored jelly polishes.
DeleteVery good post. I'm dealing with many of these issues as well..
